Manchester United Women were comprehensively beaten by Chelsea in the Women's Super League on Sunday. The heavy home defeat leaves the side in the table with zero points from their opening game.
Chelsea took control early and opened the scoring through Sjoeke Nusken, who finished an assist from Wieke Kaptein. The visitors doubled their lead just after the half-hour mark when Katie Walsh found the net, set up by Lucy Bronze.
United made a triple substitution around the hour mark, bringing on Alyssa Sandberg, Rosa Bernal and Simi Awujo. But Chelsea extended their advantage moments later, with Lauren James scoring. Ellie Carpenter added a fourth four minutes later, and Lucy Bronze completed the rout in added time.
Rosa Bernal received a yellow card for a foul for the hosts. The result means United have now lost their last two matches in all competitions, following a defeat to London City Lionesses in their previous outing.
The side will look to bounce back in their next WSL fixture.
